Dinefwr Park, Wales

02 April 2012

Newton House is on the grounds of Dinefwr Park. The Rice (Rhys) family used to call Newton House home. You step into a late Victorian era early Edwardian period country home. A deer park surrounds Newtown House that was designed by Capability Brown. Despite its modern appearnace Newton House dates back to 1600.

After exploring Newton House, it was time to explore Dinefwr Castle. The ruin of Dinewfr Castle sits atop a 100 foot bank along the River Tywi. The castle dates back to the early 13th century. It was captured by the English in 1277 during the reign of King Edward I. The castle began to be used as a summer home after Newton House was built. The castle burnt down in the 18th century.

The cows are coming back to the barn for the evening.
