Blists Hill Victorian Town, England

24 March 2012

The first time we visited the Iron Bridge Gorge, we bought the museum pass. This pass allows us to visit each museum  and you have a year to do so.

So on a sunny spring day we were on the road as the sun was rising for the drive to Blists Hill Victorian Town.

Blists Hill takes you back in time to a Victorian Shropshire town the late 19th century and early 20th century. Brick and tile works, blast furnaces and coal and iron and fire clay mines were all industries operating in the region of Blists Hill. Some of the buildings are original to the town whilst others have been relocated.

When you arrive at Blists Hill, you go to Lloyds Bank (it is stunning inside) and exchange your modern money for money that was used in Victorian times. This is what you use to purchase any goods and pay for your meals.
