Charlecote Park, England

11 February 2012

It is a cold day in England today. Very cold. Snows covers the hilltops in the distance. It is the perfect day to go touring some manor houses. Our first stop of the day is Charlecote Park.

Charlecote Park is a 16th century country home built along the banks of the River Avon. The land has been owned by the Lucy family since 1247. Sir Thomas Lucy built Charlecote Park in 1558. A deer park surrounds the house and it is rumoured that a young William Shakespeare was caught poaching a deer here.

The present drawing room was set up as a bedroom and this is where Queen Elizabeth I slept when she visited Charlecote.
