Gloucester Cathedral, England

30 April 2011

Gloucester Cathedral is a combination of Norman and Gothic architecture and dates back to 1072 - 1104. King Edward II of England is buried there. When he was murdered at Berkeley Castle, no church wanted to deal with his remains. King Edward II was finally laid to rest at Gloucester. Later when King Henry VIII dissolved the monastaries he left Gloucester alone since his uncle was laid to rest there. The cathedral was preparing for their evening service so we had to cut our tour short.

The cloisters were used in the Harry Potter movies.
