Chedworth Roman Villa, England

24 April 2011

Nestled in the hills of the Cotswolds is Chedworth Roman villa. Chedworth is one of the largest Roman villas in Britain and is believed to have been a farm for a wealthy Roman. Chedworth was built between the 2nd (120 AD) and 4th century. The villa was destroyed in probably the 5th century. The villa contained 2 seperate bathing rooms. One was for damp-heat and the other was for dry-heat. The dining room has an amazing mosaic floor (which we could not since since restoration was being done). There was in floor heating and even a loo. These Romans knew how to live. The setting is beautiful and serene. You can feel the peace in the air and it fills you with a calmness.

This is what it is like driving in England. This is a two way road.

We had not had lunch yet. There was a little cafe on site. Some yummy ice cream was perfect for this beautiful spring day.
